It was a great surprise when KMAS was coming through on 1030 kHz. I did not realize that it was possible to receive KMAS at my place. Dale Hubbard, President/General Manager verified my reception and also attached a logo for KMAS!

Nov 22 KCNN was heard with fair strength despite the DRM from 1593. I sent a report from my regular email with no respons. Today I used my email via Hotmail and after 10 minutes General Manager Jeff Hoberg confirmed my reception. He also told me that my first mail had been filtered!

KWAD Wadena MN 920

Another one from Minnesota logged Nov 22. Kyle Gylsen confirmed my reception and also gave some information about the promos I recorded. I very friendly mail indeed.

KQAQ Austin MN 970

November 22 was a terrific day for stations from MN. KQAQ had a rather strong signal sometimes coming over WDAY and KBUL on 970. Today I received a very friendly mail from program director Ron Hunter. I first tried the email on the contact page of KQAQ with no respons. Torolf J in Uppsala gave me valuable contact information. CFRY Portage la Prairie MB 920

When you hear country music on 920 you have probably found CFRY. I think it is the most common station on this channel. I have reported them many times with no success until today when Laverne Siemens Director of Engineering at Golden West Radio sent an email with a QSL-letter as an attached file. Thank you Laverne! Conditions towards Minnesota were excellent Nov 22. On 1100 I logged AM 1000 The Flag over the usually dominating WTAM in Cleveland OH. Jill Helm, Operations Manager, verified my reception and told me that the voice on my recordings was Scott Hennen, President of this company. Thank you for verification Jill!

KBAR Barley ID 1230

It was a real surprise on Nov 22nd when I heard an identification from KBAR in a break in a TLK show. I had got a hint from Torolf Jonsson in Sweden, he logged them an hour earlier. Today Kim Lee, General Manager of Lee Family Broadcasting Inc, verified my reception in a brief mail. Thank you Mr Lee!

KJJK Fergus Falls MN 1020

KDKA is hard to get around but on Nov 22 I had KJJK Groovy 1020 coming through with quite a good strength. I found an email address on the Lakes Radio website and today I received a nice and friendly email from David Howey Program Director of sister station KPRW FM. This is absolutely incredible! Two verifications from Ecuador the same day! Yesterday I found a new email address to GRD and sent a reminder of my reception one year ago. Today I received a mail with a perfect verification of my reception. I have logged this station a couple of times, easy to recognize, always about 100 Hz high. V/s was Vicky Moran Garcia. JOJB NHK2 Kanazawa 1386

This station was logged Nov 11 at 1320 when all NHK2 stations give a local identification. I uploaded a file to my homepage and made a link at their contact page. Mauno Ritola in Finland told me how to find the contact forms. Today I found a letter with a QSL-card in my letter box. Rather strange that this letter found its way to Bonässund. (I will use a instead of ä in the future).

This is a very powerful transmitter, logged many times, but I have never before sent them a reception report. Last week I used the contact form of their local web site and today I received a snail mail letter with a lot of stuff, like stickers, program schedules and post cards. V/s was Manager Toshitake Ishii!

It was a real surprise Nov 13 when WDOD surfaced above CIWW for some minutes. I called them for an email address and today Danny Howard, Director of Programming, verified my reception and also told me that this is probably the first time WDOD has been logged in Sweden. West of the Mississippi River in the United States, all radio station calls start with K, so that's a given. RWB simply stands for the towns in Minnesota it services: Roseau, Warroad, Badger.

1240 CKIM Baie Verte NL

Today GM Richard King verified my reception of CKIM on 1240, where it is logged fairly often. He also said that the reason for the good signal in Europe is the fact that the antenna is situated on top of a hill overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. Thank you for QSL Richard!

WIRD Lake Placid NY 920

I was very surprised when I had a station with ESPN coming through CKNX on Sept 27. I got a nice ID and sent a report to the chief engineer Christopher Brescia who gave me an explanation to the fact that presumed 87 watts had reached Örnsköldsvik:While we are licensed to operate at 5,000 watts during daytime hours, we are supposed to reduce power to 87 watts at sunset, as you stated. Unfortunately our operators, who are also running other radio stations, sometimes forget to reduce power when they are supposed to. Very likely they did not reduce power when you heard the station. Several times in the recent past the station has been reported to have been received in Finnland.
920 has become an interesting channel when CJCH left for FM earlier this year.

WNYY Ithaca NY 1470

This is a real tough one. When conditions favour the east coast WLAM is always on top on 1470, and when conditions travels more to the west WBKV and La Preciosa are always there. On September 27 I recorded almost 2 hours of the stations on this channel and during 5 minutes I had WNYY almost readable and was lucky enough to hear a weather forecast and an identification. Today Susan Johnston GM verified my report with a short "Yes That is WNYY". She was not impressed by the quality of my recordings! Many thanks for your mail Susan!

Since CKEC left 1320 this has become a very interesting channel. CJMR is the dominant now, but sometimes other stations are coming through. WILS is one of those stations. Today Sharon L Stone confirmed my reception with a brief CONFIRMED. Thank you Sharon!

RFO Martinique 1310

A dream has come through. I heard Radio Martinique many times in the 60ies but never got a verification. In august I sent an email report to Désir Quiquely and tonight I received one of my most wanted QSLs! He also attached a short jingle of Radio Martinique, the same as I had sent with my report! This was a new country for me, #228 since 1963. Arnstein Bue in Norway helped me with the contact information. Thank you Arnstein and Désir.

KGOW Houston (Bellaire) TX 1560

When hurricane Ike struck Houston September 12/13 radio station KGOW used its powerful daytime transmitter 24/7 in order to get better coverage, They even reached Scandinavia with rather good signal strength, on top of the more common WQEW New York most of the time. They were also heard on September 19 with TheGame sports but according to GM Richard Topper they are now back to normal daytime/nighttime schedule so it will be pretty hard to tune them in again. He verified my report and asked for my snail mail for some station stuff! Nice to know everything is OK again, Richard.

Today I had a brief email from Argentina confirming y reception of Radio Revivir a month ago. Radio Revivir is an easy catch on the high side of 1680 which a distorted signal.
